BREAST CANCER SCREENING

ALL WOMEN AGES 50 TO 74 SHOULD HAVE A SCREENING MAMMOGRAM.

Breast cancer is the most common type of cancer among women in the United States, and the second leading cause of cancer-related deaths among women. Getting an X-ray of the breast every two years, called a mammogram, is the best way to find breast cancer early, when it is easiest to treat. Studies show that women with disabilities are less likely than women without disabilities to receive mammograms.1 They are also less likely to receive other routine clinical preventive services.2,3,4 Clinical preventive services are healthcare services that are delivered in clinical settings (typically a medical clinic or hospital) to prevent or identify the onset of health conditions and illnesses.
